Alejandro Castillo
Bass clarinet

Terrassa (Barcelona), 1985. Trained at the Escuela Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) with Joan Enric Lluna and Harry Sparnaay. He has studied bass clarinet at the International Academy of Bass Clarinet "Josef Horák" (Italy), with Paolo de Gaspari.

He is a member of the Morphosis Ensemble (Barcelona) and Arcema Ensemble (Paris), the Barcelona Reed Quintet and the Barcelona Clarinet Players clarinet quartet, developing an intense activity. He collaborates with the Camera Musicae Orchestra (Tarragona), Barcelona Municipal Band, and in the BCN216 and Barcelona Modern Ensemble ensembles.

He has premiered and recorded works by composers such as Hèctor Parra, Joan Magrané, Bernat Vivancos, Enric Palomar, Joan Bagés, Carlos de Castellarnau, Raquel García-Tomás, Josep M. Guix, José Luis Campana, Marc Codina, Oliver Rappoport, Manel Ribera, Fabià Santcovsky, Santiago Díez-Fischer, Núria Giménez-Comas, Jesús Navarro, Isabel Urrutia, José Rafael Pascual Vilaplana, Jesús Santandreu, Óscar Navarro and Gabriel Malancioiu. He has also collaborated with the composers Juan Pablo Carreño, Christopher Fulkerson, João Pedro Oliveira and César Cano. In 2014 he made the national premiere of Pierluigi Billone's work "1 + 1 = 1", for 2 bass clarinets. 

He has participated in various cycles and festivals such as Escenes (L'Auditori de Barcelona), OFF Liceu (Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona), Soriano Musical Autumn 2016, Festival Jove Pau Casals (2012 and 2013), Fringe Festival 2014 (Torroella de Montgrí ), Eufònic Festival (Barcelona), Mixtur Festival 2013 (Barcelona), among many others. And, as a soloist, at the International ClarinetFest 2015 (Madrid), XXII Isaac Albéniz Festival, or SIRGA Festival of Contemporary Music (2014, 2015, 2016)
